Patkau Architects & the ‘Shaw House’

12 Dec 2007

It’s difficult enough to buy a house in Vancouver let alone have one designed by an architect and custom built. However, if I was wealthy enough to afford an architect to design my dream home, Patkau Architects would be near the top of my shortlist. Their Shaw House on Cornwall is amazing.

The Shaw House is a 3,071 square foot home on the shore of English Bay facing the mountains of the North Shore. It sits on a long, narrow lot and looks very nondescript from the street—all you can see are dual garage doors with hedging and a louvered wall above. The photos below are compelling proof that things aren't always as they seem.
